BlueCross BlueShield Coverage Availability & Fees
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee offers personal and family dental plans. A typical DentalBlue plan provides the following coverage:
- Preventive care: Two annual exams and other basic preventive services are usually 100% covered. No deductible is required.
- Restorative care: Both major and minor services are covered up to the plan’s Maximum Allowable Charge (MAC), which is the most that BlueCross BlueShield will pay for a specific treatment. If the price of any treatment exceeds the MAC, you are responsible for paying the remainder of the cost. There is a waiting period of 12 months for major services. Restorative care requires you to pay a deductible before the insurance coverage kicks in.
